Alan Mark Turk joined Neal & Harwell in 2007. Prior to joining the firm, he was a solo practitioner for more than 25 years, focusing his practice on civil trial litigation and commercial transactions.
He has prosecuted and defended cases in state and federal trial courts, state and federal appellate courts, and before the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Turk was admitted to the bar of the State of Tennessee in 1980 and to the bar in the State of New York in 1982.
Mr. Turk graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in 1976. In 1980, he received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law and an MBA from Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Business.
Notable / Representative Cases
- Luther R. Campbell, et.al. v. Acuff Rose Music, Inc., 1992. In this case, the United States Supreme Court unanimously reversed the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, extending the Fair Use Doctrine to commercial parody.
